Piperacillin + Tazobactam

Piperacillin belongs to the group of penicillin antibiotics. Tazobactam prevents some bacteria from resisting the effects of piperacillin. This combination is used to treat severe infections.
Do not take piperacillin + tazobactam if you:
- Are allergic to piperacillin or other cephalosporin, tazobactam
Things to Tell Your Doctor. If you:
- Have allergies
- Are pregnant, might be pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- Have low levels of potassium
- Have kidney or liver problems
- Are on a low sodium diet
What to do if you missed a dose?
As you will be given Piperacillin/Tazobactam by a doctor or nurse, you are unlikely to miss a dose. If you think you have not been given a dose of Piperacillin/Tazobactam, tell your doctor immediately.
Most common side effects?
The most common side effects with piperacillin + tazobactam are diarrhea,nausea, vomiting, skin rashes, mild allergic reactions,headache.
