Piperacillin belongs to the group of penicillin antibiotics. Tazobactam prevents some bacteria from resisting the effects of piperacillin. This combination is used to treat severe infections.

Do not take piperacillin + tazobactam if you:

• Are allergic to piperacillin or other cephalosporin, tazobactam

• Are pregnant, might be pregnant, or are breast-feeding
• Have low levels of potassium
• Have kidney or liver problems
• Are on a low sodium diet

What to do if you missed a dose?

As you will be given Piperacillin/Tazobactam by a doctor or nurse, you are unlikely to miss a dose. If you think you have not been given a dose of Piperacillin/Tazobactam, tell your doctor immediately.
