- Alcohol, barbiturates, narcotics or other hypertensive drugs increase the drug effect of hydrochlorthiazide when given together.

Cholestyramine, colestipol resins and pain killers reduces the drug effect of hydrochlorthiazide when given concomitantly.
- Hydrochlorthiazide reduces the renal clearance of lithium and add a high risk of lithium toxicity.
