Carbamazepine is an anti-convulsant medicine (prevents fits) and it can affect the body in several different ways. Carbamazepine can also modify some types of pain and can control mood disorders. It is commonly used for the treatment of some forms of epilepsy. However it can also be used to treat a painful condition of the face called trigeminal neuralgia and to control serious mood disorders.
