Bromocriptine

Bromocriptine is a medicine used to reduce secretion of the prolactin hormone. It also stimulates certain nerve pathways in the brain causing more dopamine to be produced.
Bromocriptine is used to treat patients with conditions which result from having high levels of the hormone prolactin in the blood. They are used for preventing or holding back milk production in the mother for medical reasons, in prolactinomas and acromegaly (Enlargement of bones of hands, feet and face caused by overproduction of growth hormone).
