Atorvastatin belongs to a group of medicines known as lipid (fat) regulating medicines known as statins. It is used to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Atorvastatin reduces the risk of having a cardiovascular event such as a heart attack or stroke.
