Allopurinol is available in table and capsule form.
Hyperuricaemia (High Uric acid level) Adult: 100 mg daily (Maximum: 800 mg daily)
Gout Adult: 100 mg daily (Maintenance dose: 100-300 mg daily for mild to moderate gout; 600 mg daily for severe gout) (Maximum: 800 mg daily)
Prophylaxis of uric acid nephropathy associated with cancer therapy Adult: 600-800 mg daily in two to three divided doses for 2-3 days before starting cancer treatment (Maximum: 800 mg daily) Child: (<15 yr): 10-20 mg per kg body weight daily. (Maximum: 400 mg daily)
Recurrent calcium oxalate stones Adult: 200-300 mg daily
Cancer therapy-induced hyperuricaemia Adult: 200-400 mg per m2 daily (Maximum: 600 mg daily) Child: (≤10 yr): 200 mg per m2 daily (>10 yr): 200-400 mg per m2 daily (max: 600 mg/day)
