Acarbose is a medicine that belongs to glucosidase inhibitors group. It is used to treat non-insulin dependent diabetes (Type II diabetes). It aids to control blood sugar levels by slowing down the digestion of carbohydrates (complex sugars). Thus, it helps by reducing the abnormally high blood sugar levels in the body after each meal. It is especially used when restricted diet alone or other sugar-lowering drugs do not work adequately.
