Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis and it affects both men and women equally. It is often difficult to diagnose the condition as it can sometimes be similar to other sexually transmitted infections.
The symptoms of the condition are more observant in case of women who would experience a change in vaginal discharge, itching around the private parts or soreness. But in men pain after urination and ejaculation are the most commonly observed symptoms.
Trichomoniasis is a condition that is usually spread by having unprotected sex and anyone who is sexually active can catch and pass it on to their partners. The condition would not go away without treatment but after treatment it rarely causes any complications and helps in speedy recovery of the patient.
Appearance
Trichomoniasis does not cause any visible changes on the skin or any other part of the infected person. It however causes a change in vaginal discharge in case of women. The discharge appears to be thicker, frothy and yellow or green in color and produces an unpleasant fishy smell. Men hardly see any change in appearance on any part of their body except a rare red and swollen foreskin and the usual white discharge from the penis.
