What causes acne ?

 

It is believed that acne runs in families. The episodes may flare up by:

 

  • Hormonal changes occurring in menstrual periods, pregnancy, taking birth control pills and stress.
  • Poor skin hygiene and prolonged and continuous dust exposure.
  • Use of oily or greasy cosmetics or hair products.
  • Certain drugs like steroids, testosterone, oestrogen and phenytoin.
  • High level of humidity and sweating.
