Bacterial vaginosis or BV is a condition that affects the natural balance of the bacteria found in a woman’s vagina. It causes an abnormal vaginal discharge which can smell fishy and unpleasant.
Bacterial vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted disease hence it does not spread through sexual contact, toilet seats, bedding, swimming pools or touching objects associated with them. Women who never had sexual intercourse may also be affected by this condition.

Cervicitis is an inflammation or irritation of the lining of the cervix, which is the tip of the uterus or the womb that extends down into the vagina. A similar condition in men involving inflammation in the urinary tube is known as urethritis.

Trichomoniasis
Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis and it affects both men and women equally. It is often difficult to diagnose the condition as it can sometimes be similar to other sexually transmitted infections.
The symptoms of the condition are more observant in case of women who would experience a change in vaginal discharge, itching around the private parts or soreness. But in men pain after urination and ejaculation are the most commonly observed symptoms.

Genital herpes is a chronic condition that is caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 or type 2. It is also referred to as a sexually transmitted infection as it can be passed on to others through intimate sexual contact. It is a common condition, especially between people aged 20-24 years.

Genital herpes causes an individual to develop blisters or ulcers in their genital area that might be painful. Apart from these it does not cause any visible changes in your body.

Syphilis
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. It is mostly transmitted through having sex with someone who is already infected with the condition. It can also be passed on from an infected mother to her unborn child or can also be caught through injecting drugs.
